Manitoba Public Health announced 13 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, September 2, 2020. a case previously identified on Aug. 30 was removed as it was determined to be from out of province. This brings the total net new cases today to 12. The total number of lab-confirmed cases stands at 1,244.
The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.8 per cent.
Eight of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, one new case in the Southern Health region, four cases in the Winnipeg Health region.
There are 14 people being treated in hospital (8 in Prairie Mountain, 6 Southern Health) including one person in intensive care (Southern Health)
There are currently 454 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 776 people listed as recovered.
The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 14.
1,584 laboratory tests were completed on Monday. According to Manitoba Public Health, the total number of completed tests since early February is 139,643.
Two previously reported cases in health-care workers in Winnipeg are linked to outbreaks at Fred Douglas Lodge and Beacon Hill Lodge Long Term Care Home.
Both facilities have additional measures in place to further reduce risk to staff and residents. Visitation is restricted at both locations. Under the Pandemic Response System risk assessment, both facilities have been moved to critical (RED).
Two potential public exposure to COVID-19 may have occurred. The first on Aug. 21 to 23 at the Canoe Taphouse at 130 Wasagaming Dr. in Wasagaming. The second on Aug. 21 and 22 at the Buffalo Bar and Ten Restaurant at the Elkhorn Resort Spa and Conference Centre in Onanole.
