104 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death reported

104 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Six cases have been removed due to data corrections. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 98. One death was reported due to the virus.

The person who died from COVID-19 is identified as:

  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 4.1 per cent provincially and three per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 32,607.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • six cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 51 cases in the Northern health region;
  • five cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • five cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 37 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 872 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 30,823 people listed as recovered.

154 people are being treated in the hospital of which 54 are considered infectious. 22 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 10 of them still considered infectious.

The total number of confirmed variant of concern cases of B.1.1.7 is 12 and B.1.351 is 11, bringing the total number of confirmed variant of concern cases to 23.

912 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

2,195 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 546,239 tests completed.

An outbreak has been declared at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sarto. Those who went to any events at or in relationship to the church on Feb 21 should be tested.
