Four teams of researchers a the University of Manitoba will be sharing $10.1 million in funding to study kidney disease, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease and the development of children’s brain.
Of the money announced on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, $3.1 million comes from the province, $6 million from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and $1 million from local research partners.

Growth, Enterprise and Trade Minister Blaine Pedersen said that this research is unique in that it engages patients in all aspects of study. He went on to say that Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) projects connect researchers, health professionals, patients and policymakers across the country to improve the health of Canadians living with chronic diseases.
