UNTREATED SEWAGE SPILLS INTO RED RIVER

The large rain storm that mover across Winnipeg on the afternoon of Wednesday June 21, 2017 knocked out power at a wastewater pump station causing it to overflow according to the city. About 2.7 megalitres of sewage made it’s way into the river before crews were able to get an emergency generator in place. The city says that once power was restored crews did not operate the positive gate because of fear of basement flooding. The spill has been reported to the province as required.   -News4-     ….

Academy Lanes announced on Saturday June 24, 2017 that they will be closing one of three locations effective July 18, 2017. In a letter posted on social media Todd Britton, President of Academy Lanes said that they were forced to close the Academy Road location after 35 years because of “circumstances beyond our control”. Those circumstances centre around not being able to negotiate a new rental agreement to continue to use the building from the property owners. EMERGENCY LANDING IN WINNIPEG

An Airbus A321 made an emergency landing in Winnipeg after the cabin air system overheated according to  officials. The Air Canada flight from Toronto to Calgary with 184 passengers on board landed safely in Winnipeg just after 9:00 pm.  Eight people said they were feeling ill but paramedics examined all passengers at the scene before releasing them. Passengers were sent to hotels overnight and continued on to Calgary today. -News4 Staff-
