City says to stay home, limit travel to essential trips only.
Due to the high volume of snow on city streets the city is focusing on clearing regional streets and collector bus routes at this time.
Clearing of sidewalks on regional and bus collector streets will begin Monday night at 7:00pm
Back Lane clearing will begin Tuesday morning at 7:00 am
Declared Snow Route Parking Ban
Parking prohibited on snow routes from midnight to 7:00 a.m.
The city of Winnipeg has declared a snow route parking ban between midnight and 7:00am beginning tonight at 12:00am (December 27, 2016)
The extended parking ban will remain in place until snow clearing operations have concluded across the city.
Fines for parking on a snow route between midnight and 7:00 am are $100 plus the cost of a tow and storage.
The city has suspended collection of garbage today. If Monday was your regular day for pickup the city is asking you place your bins outside on Tuesday after 7:00 am. Due to the backlog if your garbage has not been collected by 10:00 pm Tuesday night you are to remove your bins from the lane so that clearing operations and take place. You are then asked to put your bins out the next morning at 7:00 am.
Due to the heavy snow city buses are experiencing delays.
Handi-Transit has cancelled all trips except for dialysis appointments. Those with dialysis appointments are asked to call 204-986-5711 to report when their street is cleared.

Adverse weather conditions affect travel times for all vehicles on the road, including emergency vehicles. WFPS is currently experiencing longer response times.
Manitoba Highways reports that a number of highways outside the city are closed.

Highway 1 west of Winnipeg – CLOSED
Highway 75 south of Winnipeg – CLOSED
Highway 59 south from Winnipeg – CLOSED
