Early Sunday morning July 15, 2018, police in Portage la Prairie received reports of shots fired in the area of 17th Street NW.
As officers arrived they found a 20-year-old male had been shot. Emergency medical crews took the man to the hospital in stable condition.
A second male aged 18 was located nearby. He had been seriously assaulted and was taken to hospital in unstable condition. He has since been upgraded to stable.
RCMP say that the shooting and assault are not random acts.
