IIU investigating an incident involving Dakota Ojibway Police Service and RCMP

On August 15, 2017, the Dakota Ojibway Police Service (DOPS) arrested a 33-year-old woman for driving and criminal code offences. She was taken to the Portage La Prairie RCMP detachment to be held in custody. While being processed she received an injury that cut her forehead. Although the woman was not seriously injured the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has taken over control of the investigation.   -News 4-       © 2107 News4, a DigiPix Media Group company       .

RCMP in Westman executed a search warrant on July 28,2017, at a home in Melita, about 327 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. A female pedestrian has died after being struck by an SUV Monday afternoon. It happened just after 4:00 pm at the St. Mary’s Avenue and Carlton Street intersection. One male and one female pedestrian were struck.
